Velia Lozick, OTR/L
Velia received her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from San Diego State University and went on to earn a Master of Arts in Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California. A licensed occupational therapist who specializes in physical agent modalities, she joined Ventura Orthopedics in 2019 and is currently working on becoming a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT).
Fluent in English and Spanish, Velia volunteered in a bilingual hand clinic prior to graduate school where she sought out opportunities to study hand development and upper extremity therapy. Her passion for hand therapy stemmed from an accident that severely affected her elbow and caused Velia to become a hand therapy patient herself. This experience taught her the importance of a knowledgeable and compassionate therapy team.
Velia believes that the hand and upper extremity are vital to an individual’s day-to-day activities. She strives to learn who her patients are and what is meaningful to them, then tailors treatment to meet their needs. Her goal is to help patients recover with a treatment plan that is functional but, most importantly, meaningful.
In her free time, Velia enjoys baking, long days at the beach and traveling to destinations with great restaurants. Originally from San Diego, Velia and her husband, an aerospace engineer, currently live in Los Angeles County with their happy and energetic 13 year-old pet rabbit.
