Biography
Ali R. Motamedi, MD is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes as a sports medicine physician with an emphasis on knee and shoulder arthroscopy. He received dual board certifications in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Motamedi received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley and attended Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans for his medical degree. After medical school, he completed an orthopedic residency program at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Dr. Motamedi spent an additional two years in fellowships, training for sports medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and trauma at University of Vienna. He also spent several months in a preceptorship with Dr. Richard Hawkins, a world renowned shoulder surgeon.
Prior to joining Ventura Orthopedics, Dr. Motamedi was a physician at Richmond Bone and Joint Clinic in Sugar Land, TX and an associate clinical professor for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Before that, he was an associate professor at UCLA for eight years where he was involved in the care of student-athletes and training residents and fellows.
Dr. Motamedi is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a fellow of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He is also the former president of Western Orthopedic Association, Los Angeles Chapter and is a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and Journal of Knee Surgery. Dr. Motamedi currently serves as team doctor for Adolfo Camarillo High School.
